The neighborhood just keeps getting fancier and fancier.... Irene Albright, a legendary stylist and collector/archivist of haute couture is opening a gallery and event space at 32A Cooper Square directly across the street from the blindingly gauche Cooper Square Hotel. Albright, a highly regarded former stylist already operates the Albright Fashion Library out of the Carl Fischer Music Building at 62 Cooper Square for socialites, celebrities, and an exclusive fashionista aficionado clientele. Clothing, shoes, and jewelry from her collection are available for rent when you need something for the red carpet or those papparazi packed opening nights, but she's really only been known by insiders in the close-knit fashion industry. The new space will be called Mina, after Albright's daughter, who assists her in the business. In addition to showing classic couture, the gallery will also feature new designers. So, the next time you need a vintage Pucci pantsuit for a weekend in Palm Beach, you know where to go. The rest of us can wander in and browse the museum-like gallery and wonder who the hell wears this stuff? Mina will open to the public in the next two weeks.

uhh...is this really the right time to be opening something like this?
Oh dear.
I know Irene and she's fabulous!
This is a GREAT idea in this economy. You get a designer outfit for a few days at a fraction of the cost and don't have to worry about being seen twice in it!
"Gauche"?
Overpriced used clothing might fit the definition.
Yes, the hideous Cooper Square Hotel is gauche = 'lacking grace, crudely made.' I didn't make any remark about the clothing because I haven't seen it.
