I just passed that odd fusion-y restaurant at 7th Street and 2nd Avenue, Song 7.2, and there were signs plastered all over with "Closed by the DOH for Health and Mental Hygiene Violations" or something like that. I never ate there after it was Kiev - it seemed like it was cursed and they couldn't figure out what they were. I'm also not a big fan of discount sushi places that also serve curry. But I did always stare curiously at the hundreds of pictures of 'customers' that they posted on the 7th Street side. It's funny, I never actually saw more than 4 people in there at once, yet there were all these pictures of happy groups dining and smiling. Something tells me that these may have been staged, but who knows? I knew the minute I saw the name and graphics that this place wouldn't last. I'm not happy about it or anything, I'm just sayin'... If it doesn't reopen, then that's going to make both corners of 7th Street empty next month when Love Saves The Day closes. These business closings are getting scarier every day - I'm starting to stockpile potatoes and other root vegetables under my bed, people. 2009 ain't gonna be pretty - especially with the new taxes on every single thing that may have brought you a bit of joy. Get ready for mayhem and looting - finally, the old New York may be on its way back.UPDATE - 12/22-3PM
Song 7.2 must have cleaned up their act. They appeared to be open for business during a recent afternoon visit to Second Avenue.

I never quite understood what was meant by "mental hygiene".... Anyway, don't recall ever seeing many -- or any -- people in here...
Me neither! It's sounds sorta scary. Maybe they were driving people insane with their constantly changing menu!
I had mussels there once and puked for a week afterwards.
Great news..As 'old' New York returns, the annoying white trash that has runied everything here flees back to the arms of Mommy and Daddy....Cant fucken wait
have you looked at the crazy photos they have in their windows?
seeing images of human tongues made out of strawberries definitely messes with my mental hygiene.
I didn't so those - I hope they're still up, I'll make a special trip just to see that. No, not good for one's mental hygiene, I agree. Maybe that alone was the violation!
I miss Kiev. So sad
